68 labourer families held captive
Bilaspur, Nov 29 (UNI) More than 68 labourer families, hailing from this district, have been allegedly held captive at brick kilns in Maharashtra and Gujarat.
District Collector Subodh Kumar Singh told reporters here today that some labourers, who fled from these brick kilns, had made a written complaint in this regard.
Fifty families from Kargirod area in this district had been held captive reportedly in Maharashtra, while 18 families from Masturi area had been reportedly held captive in Gujarat.
He said concerned officials had been asked to necessary steps to free these labourers. A team of labour department officials could be sent for the purpose.
