Major tragedy averted, IED defused in south Kashmir
Srinagar, Nov 28 (UNI) Security forces averted a major tragedy when they detected and defused a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED)planted by militants in south Kashmir, going to polls on December 13 in the 5th phase.
Official sources said today that Jammu and Kashmir police and troops of 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) during a routine patrolling of Wachi-Niyan road in Pulwama district of south Kashmir, noticed some suspicious object on the roadside.
Immediately Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was summoned after the entire area was sealed and traffic suspended.
Later the BDS defused the IED without causing any damage.
