HAL thrash Viva Kerala 4-0

Bangalore, Nov 28 (UNI) Viva Kerala was no match for Hindustan Aeronautics Sports Club (HASC) as the aircraftmen steamroled the young outfit 4-0 in the 30th Federation Cup Preliminary Knock Out match played at Bangalore Football Stadium here today.

With today's win HASC qualified for the main draw of the Federation Cup by topping Group B. The final phase begins in Kolkata from December three.

At half time the winners were leading by 1-0.

Playing under heavy underfoot conditions due to rains during the last two days, the hosts dominated through the 90 minutes period.

While Fredrick Okwagbe scored a brace, skipper Xavier Vijaykumar and R C Prakash scored the other two goals.

Despite the slippery field and stopping ball, HASC managed to open the account in the 27th minute when Ghana striker slotting the ball off a Xavier pass. Prakash converted the penalty kick to make it 2-0 in the 58th minute.

Fredrick was again in thick of action set up Xavier by lobbing the ball over two defenders and the captain made no mistake heading the ball it into the net in the 64th minute.

The Ghanese striker rounded up the tally encashing on a Xavier pass in the 76th minute to complete Viva's rout.
