BSE gets 'Z' security after terror attacks

Mumbai, Nov 28 (UNI) 'Z' category security is being provided at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Asia's oldest stock exchange, after the financial capital was hit by the worst ever terror attacks on the night of November 26.

According to a BSE spokesperson, the entire building is sealed and has been cordoned off, with four to five commandos being stationed permanently at the premises.

The Exchange, housed in the landmark Jeejeebhoy Towers, had earlier been attacked during the 1993 serial blasts, that killed 300 people. In February this year, Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants had disclosed to the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) in Mumbai that they were planning to target the exchange.

Apart from a large number of security personnel, BSE has also installed a scanner at its main entrance and several closed circuit televisions to monitor activity inside the building.
