Tribals demand to withdraw police camps accepted
Lalgarh, Nov 27 (UNI) Accepting demand of the peoples committee, the district administration today withdrew police camps from Mokshada Sundari High School and police outpost at Ramgarh here.
The committee had urged the administration to withdrew the camp from the school premises in the interest of the students.
The administration acceded to their demand and a large number of policemen vacated both the camps and the outposts in Ramgarh.
SDO, Jhargram, Tanmoy Chakraborty said the situation worsened in the town with the digging of state highway 9 by Santal women as it never happened before.
Meanwhile, various legal forums and human rights organisations reached here this afternoon to express their solidarity with the cause of the tribal.
Santosh Sarkar, a retired Judge of the Kolkata High Court and Joydeep Mukherjee, president of a human rights organisation, held meetings with the tribals and extended their sympathies.
