Sonia condemns Mumbai terror attacks, urges people to stay calm
New Delhi, Nov 27 (UNI) Terming the Mumbai terror strikes as ''an act of cowardice'' UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi today urged the people of Mumbai to stay calm and firm in such testing times.
''This reprehensible act has underscored the enormity of the threat posed by forces of violence and terror.
We shall not allow such incidents to deter our firm resolve to combat terror in all its manifestations. India's one billion people have the strength and courage to defend themselves against the assault on its unity and secular fabric,'' she said in a statement.
Conveying her sympathies to the families of those bereaved, Ms Gandhi praised the police and security forces for acting with remarkable courage and saluted their supreme sacrifice.
