Seven days state mourning announced for V P Singh

New Delhi, Nov 27 (UNI) The government has announced seven days of state mourning as a mark of respect to former prime minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh today.

Home Minister Shivraj Patil has expressed grief over the demise of Singh.

''In his death, the country has lost a true friend of the down-trodden and a distinguished statesman. He served the nation in various capacities with dedication and distinction. His demise has caused an irreparable loss. May his soul rest in peace'' he said.
