Nisha weakens, at last respite for people of TN
Chennai, Nov 27 (UNI) After five days of heavy pounding, there was some sweet news for the people of Tamil Nadu, as the cyclonic storm ''Nisha'' has weakened into a depression late tonight.
Weather office sources said the storm, weakened into a deep depression over interior Tamil Nadu, moved west-northwestwards, and futher weakened into a depression and lay centred over interior Tamil Nadu about 50 km southeast of Dharmapuri.
The system is likely to move in a northwesterly direction and weaken further.
Under its influence, rainfall is likely to occur at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at a few places and isolated extremely heavy falls over north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during the next 24 hours.
Squally winds speed reaching 45-55 kmph are likely along and off Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts during next 12 hours.
Sea condition is very rough to high along and off these coasts and Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea during next 12 hours.
Strong surface winds speed reaching 40-50 kmph occasionally gusting to 60 kmph is also likely over interior districts of Tamil Nadu during the same period.
