EU strongly condemns Mumbai terror attacks
New Delhi, Nov 27 (UNI) The European Union (EU) today strongly condemned the terror attacks in Mumbai which, it said, were directed against democracy, and expressed solidarity with India against terror.
A statement by the current French EU Presidency said the EU was aware of the love of the Indian people for democracy, against which such terror attacks were directed.
France currently holds the rotating presidency of the 27-member bloc.
''We share the sorrow of the Indian nation and are at its side at this tragic moment,'' the statement added.
The EU also condemned the taking of hostages in a Mumbai hotel and expressed sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims.
It also expressed solidarity with the Indian authorities and the state government of Maharashtra in the fight against terror.
