Internet Governance meeting from Dec 3
Hyderabad, Nov 26 (UNI) The Internet Governance Forum (IGF), the world's largest internet congregation, formed by the United Nations Secretary-General, will begin its third four-day meeting from December three at the Hyderabad International Conference Centre (HICC) here.
The Forum, organised in alliance with the Department of Information Technology (DIT), National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) and supported by ISPAI and major corporates like Sify, BSNL, Tata Communications and STPI, would have the participation of government representatives, private sector, civil societies, academia, internet communities and international organisations, a press release said here.
The proposed theme for discussion ''Internet for All,'' would chalk out an ambitious and inclusive growth path for internet.
Over 1,400 participants from more than 100 countries would attend the programme, it said.
The IGF would facilitate dialogue between various stakeholders on five main themes - reaching the next billion, promoting cyber security and trust, managing critical internet resources, taking stock and the way forward, and emerging issues - the internet of tomorrow.
The forum would address the issues concerning internet, including its growth and tremendous socio-economic benefits.
The two previous meetings of the Forum were held in Athens in November 2006, and in Rio de Janeiro in November 2007.
An interesting aspect of this year's meeting was Remote Participation Project, whereby various Remote Hubs across the world would also be able to participate in the meeting, by using DimDim, a software which was developed in Hyderabad.
The project was sponsered by the NIXI.
