Flights bound for Bangkok diverted to Kolkata
Kolkata, Nov 26 (UNI) Two flights bound for Bangkok from Delhi and Mumbai had to be diverted here today after being unable to land at Thailand's Suvarnabhumi Airport following political unrest.
Airport officials said the two Jet Airflights left for the Thai capital but by then the Bangkok airport authorities had issued a ''notam'' ( notice to airmen) that the airport will remain closed to flights till tomorrow 1700 hrs IST.
The flights were then diverted to Kolkata. Later, it returned to Delhi and Mumbai.
Yesterday, a Thai Airways flight (TG 313) from Bangkok to Kolkata was cancelled after anti-Government protestors forcibly entered the airport building.
