Reliance Industries to provide work to displaced fishermen
Kakinada, Nov 25 (UNI) The representatives of Reliance industries have agreed to provide work to the fishermen of Gadimoga village who were displaced on account of construction of gas terminal in the village.
At the joint meeting held by East Godavari Joint Collector K Sasidhar at the Collectorate here today, the Gadimoga villagers sought according priority for jobs.
G Harshakumar, Congress MP from Amalapuram demanded that all the assurances given by the Reliance company at the time of terminal construction, be implemented.
He said the displaced fishermen and other people should be rehabilitated to ake out a living and facilities such as free electricity, free gas supply should be extended. Though the village was adopted and facilities such as internal roads, construction of school buildings, drinking water supply were being provided only of employment remained, he said.
The Joint Collector said the Reliance representatives had positively responded to the proposal and agreed to employ the locals both skilled and semi-skilled and unskilled through the contractors.
A local committee would screen the local people for employing them with the contractors, he said.
