Chennai, Nov 25 (UNI) Yesterday's low pressure area over Sri Lanka and neighbourhood persisted and is likely to intensify into a depression bringing heavy to very heavy rains in coastal districts of Tamil Nadu.

Weather office sources said the low pressure still persists and is likely to intensify into a depression.

Under its influence, heavy rains with extremely very heavy rains were likely to occur in coastal districts of Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukottai and Ramanathapuram.

Isolated heavy to very heavy rains were also likely to occur over South Tamil Nadu and in the districts of north coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during the next 48 hours.
