Hindustan Zinc bags Asian CSR Excellence Award

Tuticorin, Nov 25 (UNI) Hindustan Zinc, part of Vedanta Group in zinc business has bagged Asian CSR Excellence Award-2008 for the "Zinc Integrated Poverty Alleviation Programme (ZIPAP)".

A press release here today said the award was conferred on the company on November 22 in Singapore under the poverty alleviation category.

The company runs the the Zinc Integrated Poverty Alleviation Programme (ZIPAP) to bring sustainable change in the quality of life of people living Below Poverty Line (BPL).

The programme had been primarily aimed at four districts of Rajasthan-- Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara and Rajsamand.

This programme is executed under two categories ' Sustainable Livelihood Project (Farm and Non Farm)' and ' Integrated Nutrition and Health based Project for women and children'.

The Guest of Honor Dr Noeleen Heyzer, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of Economic and Social Commission for Asia, presented the award to Hindustan Zinc which was received by Mr Ahmar Sultan, Associate Vice President, CSR.
