70 Vaishnodevi pilgrims taken ill at Katra
Jammu, Nov 25 (UNI) At least 70 Vaishnodevi pilgrims from Maharashtra were taken ill today after they consumed unhygienic food at Katra base town of the cave shrine, about 55 kms from here, a senior police officer said.
''Seventy people of a group of pilgrims were admitted to the Katra Community Health Centre after they reported uneasiness and started vomiting,'' Superintendent of Police Ashok Sharma told UNI.
The pilgrims, who belonged to Mumbai, had shown symptoms of food poisoning, Mr Sharma said.
However, it is said that pilgrims had taken self-prepared food.
All were reportedly out of danger and responding to the treatment, the SP said.
