Youth makes abortive suicide bid at Esplanade Metro station

Kolkata, Nov 24 (UNI) A youth, who jumped from the platform in front of a train at Esplanade station of Metro railway here this afternoon, was saved miraculously thanks to promptness of the driver.

The incident occurred at around 1515 hours when the youth, aged about 25 years, made the suicide bid but the vigilant driver stopped the DumDum-bound train, putting the brake on time.

The youth, who refused to disclose his identities and the reason behind his suicide attempt, was handed over to Hare Street Police station.

Train services were affected for some time in the section as a result of the incident.
