Poverty-stricken father sells one-and-a-half-months old baby

Kendrapada, Orissa, Nov 24 (UNI) Driven by acute poverty, a father of four daughters has sold his one-and-a-half months old baby to a couple recently.

According to sources, 30-year old Sarat Bhoi, son of Daya Bhoi, was a resident of Khadianga (Baurisahi) under Kendrapara police station.

He was eking out a living by working as a daily labourer in the township area.

Police said Bhoi, who was reeling under penury, had failed to feed his family.

He allegedly sold his youngest daughter to a couple of Salepur, who had left for Hyderabad.

When contacted, Bhoi said he had donated his girl with the intention of providing his daughter a better life in the future.
