Myanmar donates syringes worth Rs 38 crore to Orissa
Bhubaneswar, Nov 24 (UNI) The Myanmar government today donated disposable syringes worth Rs 38 crore to Orissa.
Mynamar Ambassador to India Mr U Kyi Thein handed over 788 cartoons, containing 9.85 lakh disposable syringes, to state Health and Family Welfare Secretary Anu Garg at a function here.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Thein said India-Myanmar had a long history of friendly relationship. Both the countries share land, maritime, cultural, religions and ethnic affinities since time immemorial.
India and Myanmar had established diplomatic relations since 1948 after Myanmar attained Independence.
India had rushed relief to Myanmar when it was hit by the worst calamity NARGIS and Myanmar reciprocated when Orissa and Bihar were hit by flood, Mr Thien said.
