Hardened criminals flee from Jharsuguda jail
Sambalpur, Nov 24 (UNI) Armed goons today attacked Jharsuguda sub-jail warden and took away forcibly two criminals, housed in the jail.
Sub-Jail Superintendent Sudhir Kumar Sen told mediapersons here that warden Pramod Kumar Swain was critically injured and admitted to hospital after the miscreants fired at him.
Mr Sen said Manoj Pradhan and Sanjay Pradhan of Aska came to the jail to meet Bikram Mallick and Susil Behera during the visiting hours today.
Bikram and Susil, residents of Ganjam district, were in jail on the charges of murder at Brajrajnagar seven months back.
But as the visitors came close to the jail gate, suddenly they opened fire from their pistols, kept secretly inside their shirts.
The Jail warden was seriously injured and other staff were terrified and started running for cover.
Soon the four - Bikram, Susil, Manoj and Sanjay - fled on two motor cycles.
Jharsaguda Police Superintendent A K Sarangi said they had sealed all the roads and a massive manhunt was on, to nab the culprits.
