US Consulate official survives tense moments

Chennai, Nov 23 (UNI) A senior official of the US Consulate here survived some tense moments after the security guard on duty inadvertently locked the house without knowing that the official was inside.

The incident took place near Gopalapuram, coming under Royapettah Police Station limits, when the Armed Reserve (AR) Cop Rajasekaran on duty at the official's house, locked it from outside.

He was unaware that the official was inside the house.

The official, after coming to know that the gates were bolted from outside, called up the Royapetth Assistant Commissioner of Police, who rushed to the spot and broke open the lock.

Police, however, did not disclose the name of the official as no case had been registered after the Assistant Commissioner expressed regret over the incident.

The AR cop was being questioned by the police officials.
