Intelligence officer conferred President Medal award
New Delhi, Nov 23 (UNI) Mr Ashok Kumar Braroo, a senior Intelligence Officer, was today presented the President Medal for his outstanding contribution in tackling insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir and left wing extremism in Naxal-infested states.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh presented the Medal to Mr Braroo at a function, which was attended by Home Minister Shivraj Patil, National Security Advisor M K Narayanan and top officials of police and intelligence agencies.
Mr Braroo, who was earlier conferred the Police Medal in 1993, had served in the troubled Jammu and Kashmir during 1990s when militancy was at its peak there.
He had also served in Maharashtra and Gujarat.
