Chennai, Nov 22 (UNI) The Rotary Club of Madras, T Nagar, along with the Rajan Eye Care Hospital, will organise a Musical night to raise funds for its various projects.
The musical fund raising programme would be held on November 29 at the Music Academy here. Acclaimed singers Anuradha Sriram and Srinivas would enthrall the audience, along with the winners of two Airtel Super Singers 2007.
It would be a light music extravaganza with a lively medley of Hindi and Tamil songs, Rotary Club president M P Krishnan and Rajan Eye Care Hospital Chairman Mohan Rajan told a press conference.
Construction majors Larsen and Toubro would be the title sponsor for the programme, through which the Rotary was expected to raise about Rs eight lakhs to fund its various social welfare projects.
They said one of the major initiatives was the Rotary-Rajan Eye Bank project that focusses on Blind Free India and Eye donation. The project envisaged bridging the enormous gap between requirement of corneas for blind people and receipt of donor eyes from the deceased.
More awareness campaigns would be launched to highlight the importance of eye donation. Under the project more than 65,000 free cataract surgeries were performed over the last few years.
The fund raising programme was to sustain this initiative and also to fund Annadhanam scheme, ''Educate a Girl Child'' programme, and to provide basic education and basic hygiene requirements in schools.
