Two Rajasthani youths arrested in Kerala with gold biscuits
Kochi, Nov 21 (UNI) Railway Police today arrested two youths hailing from Pali district of Rajasthan at the Ernakulam Junction Railway Station here and seized unaccounted gold biscuits and ornaments worth about Rs 70 lakh from them.
Railway Police officials said the youths, identified as Rajesh P Mehta (28) and Vajaram (23) were waiting for the Delhi-bound Mangala Express this afternoon when their behaviour aroused suspicion of the Railway Police.
On being questioned, the duo looked nervous. On checking their heavy suitcase, which the two were struggling to carry, the police found seven gold biscuits weighing one kg each and 750 gms of gold ornaments in a secret compartment.
They were not carrying any receipts or documents for the gold biscuits and jewellery and claimed that they had brought them from Mumbai for sale in Kerala and were taking the goods back as they had not been able to sell them.
Police have registered a case and further investigation was on, the officials said.
