Assam to set up detention camps for illegal Bangladeshis
Guwahati, Nov 21 (UNI) Conceding that Assam serial blasts were masterminded in Bangladesh, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today announced a slew of measures to check Bangladeshi infiltration, including setting up of detention camps.
''There is no doubt that the brain behind the blasts is in Bangladesh. We are investigating into the exact identity of the mastermind, but the main source is definitely in Bangladesh,'' Mr Gogoi told mediapersons here.
He also hinted that a section of government players in the neighbouring country were supporting militant activities against India from its soil as it would have been impossible for ultras to work from Bangladeshi soil without any form of patronage. ''Similar forces inimical to the state and country are active in our circles also,'' he cautioned.
Elaborating on a slew of measures in the border areas, Mr Gogoi informed that detention camps would be set up in Mancachar in Dhubri district and Mahishasan in Karimganj district for keeping the illegal migrants after detection by the Foreigners Tribunal.
''There was no system to detain the identified migrants, and many went missing. The detention camps will help in solving that problem,'' Mr Gogoi said.
