Jammu, Nov 20 (UNI) Two persons were killed and twenty six others, including nine jawans of Border Security Force (BSF), were injured in different road accidents in the last 24 hours in different parts of Jammu region, police reports here said.
''Nine BSF jawans sustained injuries when a truck in which they were traveling and was on its way from Poonch to Rajouri rolled down near Tota Gali,'' police sources told UNI.
The jawans were proceeding towards Rajouri for the second phase election after performing their duties at Poonch in the first phase of elections held on November 17.
Rash and negligent driving was the reason behind the incident, police said and added that the injured were shifted to the District Hospital Rajouri.
Meanwhile, in another incident, one person was killed and fourteen others were injured when a vehicle carrying them skidded of the road at Machipal area of Kishtwar district.
''The ill-fated vehicle was on its way from Donadi to Thathri.
On receiving information police party and locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital,'' they said.
One of the critically injured identified as Suresh Kumar, resident of Lingo Borgran was declared brought dead while others were admitted in Kishtwar hospital.
Meanwhile, three persons were injured when their vehicle met with an accident at Garsoo in Doda district.
The injured were shifted to the District Hospital Doda and one person was referred to the Government Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
However, an accident victim, who was admitted at GMC hospital, after being hit by a truck at R S Pura, succumbed to his injuries last night. The deceased has been identified as Amarjeet Singh, resident of R S Pura, police said.
