Rs 34 cr waived under loan waiver scheme: SC Corporation
Kakinada, Nov 20 (UNI) Kakinada District Scheduled Caste Corporation Executive Director V Mahipal today said loans sanctioned to scheduled caste beneficiaries through the corporation to the extent of Rs 34 crore were waived under the loan waiver scheme, benefitting as many as 1,52,000 people in East Godavari district.
Addressing newspersons here, he said A special drive was taken up to expedite the recovery of loan amount from the beneficiaries.
He said the action plan, with an outlay of Rs 21.78 crore, for the year 2008-09 would benefit 10,800 beneficiaries.
Contrary to earlier plans, major thrust was being given to employment generation, dairying, horticulture, vegetable vending and shops, he added.
Mr Mahipal said under the Rajiv Udyog Scheme, unemployed youths were given a three-months training in various trades.
The training was arranged in tie-up with various organisations, he said, adding the speciality of the training was that the organisations would provide at least 80 per cent placements with Rs 4,000 as the minimum wage.
