Three naxals killed in encounter

Bangalore, Nov 19 (UNI) Three naxals were killed today in a fierce encounter with Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) at Mavinahola in Chikmagalur district.

Police sources said a police constable of the ANF was also killed during the two-hour encounter that took place late last mid-night in Horanadu Taluk.

The Police said that the ANF during a combing operation in the forest came in face with four naxals including a woman last night.

The naxalite group when fired at them the ANF men also fired at them in exchange.

Later, in their search of the area, the ANF found three bodies of naxals and identified two of them as Manohar, Naveen, and the third one unidentified.

Police constable Guruprasad from Bhagamandala succumbed to bullet injuries.

The woman, the fourth member of the naxal group, escaped under the cover of darkness, they said.
