Thomas Mathai passes away
New Delhi, Nov 19 (UNI) Thomas P Mathai, former editor of a weekly magazine Democratic World and a quarterly magazine Future, died here today following a brief illness.
He was 74 and is survived by his wife and one son.
Mathai has served as Deputy Secretary to the Government of India and later appointed advisor to UNESCO,.
He was Editor of the Democratic World, a weekly and Future. a quaterly magazine, which were devoted to serious discussion on issues of democracy, governance and future changes in the world.
Mathai was also a pioneer in issues of press freedom.
The Editors Guild of India has mourned the death of Thomas Mathai.
The Guild conveys its heartfelt condolences to the family members of Mathai.
The cremetion will take place at kottayam in kerala tomorrow.
