Sri Lankan Tamils Relief fund touches Rs 24.71 crore
Chennai, Nov 19 (UNI) The Sri Lankan Tamils Relief fund, collected by the Tamil Nadu government, touched Rs 24.71 crore.
Today, Industrialist Venu Srinivasan and Mr Abdur Rehman of Cresent Engineering College contributed Rs Five lakh each, followed by Sundram Clayton and TVS Motor Company Rs 2.5 lakh each, an official release here said.
The fund was launched by the government on October 28 with Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, making a personal contribution of Rs ten lakh.
With this, the collection of funds personally by the Chief Minister has come to an end and those who wished to contribute, could send the amount to the Chief Secretary by post.
