'Quami Ekta' Week starts from today
Chandigarh, Nov 19 (UNI) The Chandigarh Administration observed National Integration Day with commencement of "Quami Ekta Week" today.
Mr Pradip Mehra, Adviser to the Union Territory Administrator, administered the pledge to officials for preserving and strengthening the freedom and integrity of the nation at the Secretariat here.
All the employees affirmed that they would never resort to violence and vowed to continue endeavour towards settlement of all differences and disputes relating to religion, language, region or political or economic grievances by peaceful and constitutional means.
The National Integration Day would be followed by Welfare of Minorities Day on November 20, Linguistic Harmony Day on November 21, Weaker Sections Day on November 22, Cultural Unity Day on November 23, Women's Day on November 24 and Conservation Day on November 25.
Earlier the Administration organized a cycle rally to mark the beginning of 'Quami Ekta' Week.
Home Secretary-cum Secretary Education, Ram Niwas, flagged off the rally from Sector 17, aimed at spreading the feeling of love, unity, integrity and brotherhood among the citizens. The rally terminated at the lake.
Students from different schools and volunteers from NGOs participated in the rally, in which banners were extensively used.
About 500 participants took part in this cycle rally.
