Guv, CM administers pledge, floral tributes paid to Indira Gandhi
Chennai, Nov 19 (UNI) Floral tributes and administration of National Integration pledge marked the celebration of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in Tamil Nadu today.
Governor Surjit Singh Barnala and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi administered National Integration pledge to the officials and staff on the occasion.
The Governor administered the pledge to the officers and staff at Raj Bhavan, while the Chief Minister administered the pledge to his ministerial colleagues, officials and staff at the secretariat.
After paying floral tributes at the portrait of Indira Gandhi, Mr Karunanidhi administered the pledge to preserve and strengthen the country's independence and integration. Those who attended the ceremony, also pledged not to indulge in violence at any cost.
Congress leaders, including TNCC President K V Thangabalu, former President M Krishnasamy, Congress Legislature Party leader D Sudarsanam paid floral tributes to Indira Gandhi at a brief function at party headquarters, Sathyamoorthy Bhavan.
Later, the leaders took National integration pledge at a function, organised at Kalaivanar Arangam.
