BHEL Trichy team wins Golden award

Tiruchirapalli, Nov 19 (UNI) A Quality Circle (QC) team, named "Rainbow," from the Boiler Production area of the public sector Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), here has won the highest International Golden Award at the International Quality Circle Convention 2008 held in Dhaka recently, according to a BHEL press release today.

The release said 151 teams from nine countries participated, in the convention. The BHEL QC won the Gold for its case study on 'Improved method in Headers Dished End Cover Fit-up in the manufacturing of Headers for Boilers'. This study enabled BHEL to reduce the cycle time of manufacturing the dished end cover fit-up with pipe from 11 hours to one hour, the release added.

The release said Quality circles from India, China, Singapore, Thailand, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Korea, Sri Lanka and Taiwan participated in the Convention.
