Articles worth lakhs of rupees looted, six injured

Jehanabad, Nov 19 (UNI) Armed criminals looted cash and valuables worth lakhs of rupees, injured six people and raped a girl at Abgilla village under Paras Bigha police station area, police today said.

The people were injured while a newly wed girl was allegedly raped by the robbers when they protested their bid to loot the articles from several houses late last night.

''All the injured are undergoing treatment at sadar hospital,'' police said adding the girl had been sent for medical test.

A manhunt had been launched in the area to nab the miscreants, police added.

Meanwhile, enraged over the incident, local people blocked the Jehanabad-Alwar road for more than six hours today. The blockade was lifted following official intervention.
