TN Min seeks NGOs support to implement welfare schemes

Tiruchirapalli, Nov 18 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Cooperation Minister Ko Si Mani has sought the support of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to assist the state government for implementing welfare schemes like housing facilities to the poor.

Declaring open the fire proof houses constructed by the city-based NGO Sevai at Anna Nagar last night, Mr Mani lauded the efforts of Sevai.

Transport Minister K N Nehru, in his address said about 60 families residing in the "Kal Udaippor" colony in Anna Nagar, under the Tiruchirapalli Two Assembly constituency, which he represents in the state Assembly have lost their houses in a fire mishap recently.

Mr Nehru requested K Govindaraju, founder of the Sevai to construct fire proof houses to those who lost their dwellings in the fire.

Sevai had constructed 60 houses each at a cost of Rs 60,000 in the that area, Mr Govindaraju said adding that as per the request made by Mr Nehru, victims of the fire mishap would be sheltered in the newly-built houses.
