State bank of Patiala celebrates its 92nd foundation day

Patiala, Nov 17 (UNI) State Bank of Patiala today celebrated its 92nd Foundation Day at its Head Office, here with the bank organising a special DRI loan distribution mela.

Managing Director of the Bank A C Varma distributed cycle rickshaws, cheques to beneficiaries to establish paan shops, tailoring shops, tea stalls and other such activities so that they may become self dependent and earn their livelihood.

More than 25 beneficiaries were given financial assistance at a very nominal rate of interest. Speaking on the occasion Mr Varma congratulated the staff and thanked its customers and patrons for their unstinted support for the last 91 years.

He said that the Bank is one of the best in the country and its areas of operation are Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and Delhi. From a small network of 47 branches in 1960 and with business level of merely Rs 15 crore, the Bank has grown to a network of 829 branches and 42 Extension Counters spread over 19 states and 1 UT's and with a total business of more than Rs 1,00,000 crore.

Mr Varma advised the staff to work more vigorously to take the Bank to new heights.

Mr Dinesh Bhatia, GM (P&D), Sudhir Garg, GM (CB), S Sridhar, GM (Tech& Insp), Amar Singh, Director, Jyoti Ghosh, DGM Patiala zone and other high officials and a large number of employees of the Bank were present on this occasion. Mr K S Jawanda, AGM (I-P) delivered a vote of thanks.
