Haryana Police women win wrestling trophy

Rai, Sonepat, Nov 17 (UNI) Haryana Police (women freestyle), Jhajjar (men Greeco-Roman) and Sonepat (men freestyle) ruled supreme in the wrestling competitons of the 22nd Haryana State Games at the Subhash Stadium here today.

Haryana Police bagged the women's freestyle team trophy by garnering 22 points. Bhiwani and Rohtak claimed silver and bronze with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Winner of silver medal ,in Junior World Championship in China in 2007, Babita, a BA Part II student of Government College in Bhiwani proved too good for Shilpi of Hisar in the 55 kg final freestyle bout.

Hosts Sonepat got the better of Bhiwani by just one point to capture the team trophy in the men's freestyle competitons. Bhiwani got 14 points for silver while Jhajjhar were third with 12 points.

Jhajjar emerged champions in the Greeco-Roman style as they collected 21 points for the trophy. Rohtak finished runners-up with 15 points.

Sonepat also secured 15 points but on technical ground they were pushed to third position.

60 kg: 1 Mandeep (Hisar), 2 Anil Kumar (Rohtak), 3 Anil Kumar (Sonepat) and Sandeep (Sirsa). 66 kg: 1 Sandeep (Sonepat), 2 Amar Pal (Bhiwani), 3 Amit Kumar (Jhajjar) and Surjeet (Panipat). 74 kg: 1 Parveen (Sonepat), 2 Virender (HP), 3 Mahabir (Rohtak) and Yogesh (Bhiwani). 84 kg: 1 Jaspal (HP), Rajbir (Jhajjar), 3 Bijender (Rohtak) and Salook Singh (Bhiwani). 120 kg: 1 Hitesh (Jhajjar), 2 Pardeep (Bhiwani),3 Neeraj (Sonepat).
