Doyen of hotel industry felicitated, elected President FHRAI

Chennai, Nov 17 (UNI) Top hoteliers of Tamil Nadu felicitated Empee Group of Hotels CMD M P Purushothaman on his election as President of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI).

Mr Purushothaman was elected for the third team at the 44th FHRAI convention held at Shanghai last month.

The felicitation function was organised by the South India Hotels and Restaurants Association.

Bouquets and shawls flowed like a cascade and spekaers showered encomiums on Mr Purushothaman for his yeoman services to the Hotel industry, spanning more than four decades.

Replying to felicitations, Mr Purushothaman promised all help to ensure that the financial meltdown does not create a deep impact on the Hotel Indusry in India.

He said he would do everything possible by cooperating with the government to tide over the crisis.

On the 40 per cent cut imposed on hotels in the state, he said he had already taken up the matter with the government to exempt hotels from the power cut.

Mr Purushothaman said his immediate task was to get infrastructure status to the Hotel industry and development of manpower to ensure further growth of the sector to meet the rising demand.
