DMK urges Govt to stop giving college building to ESIC

Puducherry, Nov 17(UNI) The State DMK Convenor and former Chief Minister R V Janakiraman today urged the administration not to hand over the Government Medical College building to the Employees State Insurance Corporation(ESIC) and instead the Government should run it.

In a statement here, Mr Janakiraman said the poor farmers had given the land and it was acquired in 2005 only for the college.

The Government expenditure had increased and the purpose for the land acquisition should not be changed, he said, adding, JIPMER Hospital here do not enjoy 50 per cent reservation for medical seats, and if the hospital was handed over to the ESIC, similar problem will occur.
