BJP, Cong did nothing to resolve naxal problem: SP
Raipur, Nov 17 (UNI) The Samajwadi Party (SP) today charged both the ruling BJP and the Congress with doing nothing to resolve people's problems leading to naxal menance in tribal-dominated Chhattisgarh.
''Both the BJP and Congress lack the willpower to tackle naxalism in the state where people have taken up arms in their hands due to the apathetic role of these two parties,'' said SP national secretary and in-charge of Chhattisgarh Ram Narayan Sahu.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Sahu, who is the Rajya Sabha member from Uttar Pradesh, pointed out that naxalite problem could be resolved only by addressing the problems of poor.
He said people in Chhattisgarh wanted an alternative to the Congress and the BJP. The SP would play an important role in fulfilling the aspirations of masses.
''Though we are contesting only 45 seats in Chhattisgarh Assembly polls, party candidates in at least 10 seats were in a better position to win,'' he claimed.
Mr Sahu alleged that both the BJP and the Congress governments had done nothing for development of the state.
''Chhattisgarh could have been ahead of Haryana if the BJP and Congress had political vision for the development of the state,'' he added.
The SP leader also said the SP would contest from at least five seats in Chhattisgarh in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
