BJP can never form govt in J
Jammu, Nov 17 (UNI) Despite the claims made by the BJP national leadership of forming next government in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP's former ideologue and senior vice president Hari Om, who joined the Congress, today said the saffron party could never form government in the state.
''Because of the peculiar situation and demographic set up in the region, the BJP will never be able to form Jammu and Kashmir government,'' Prof Hari Om, told newspersons while addressing his maiden press conference here after joining the Congress.
''I served for around two decades in the BJP and my personal experience says that the party can never form the government despite having nationalist ideology,'' Prof Hari Om said, adding that after BJP, Congress is the only option to the people of J&K having nationalist approach.
Prof Hari Om said the situation in J&K has reached a very critical juncture and efforts are being made to divide the state on regional, religion and caste basis.
''Nationalist party heading the J&K government is the only way out to rescue the state from the clutches of those political parties working hard to create wedge between the regions,'' added Prof Hari Om.
The former BJP leader said Congress always talked of development in all the three regions and the party holds approach in the welfare of the people.
''Congress earlier ruled in J&K from the year 1965-1975 and the party integrated the state with rest of the country,'' he added.
Prof Hari Om further said the BJP remained in Centre for six years but never brought Centres laws to the state but it was the Congress that implemented Centre's laws in Jammu and Kashmir.
The leader however, asserted that strengthening the Congress party is not merely a political but a national requirement.
