7 of inter-state vehicle lifting gang held
Jaunpur, Nov 17 (UNI) The district police today busted an inter-state vehicle lifting gang with the arrest of seven of its members following an encounter in Mungrabadshahpur area.
On getting information about the syndicate, police swung into action and cordoned-off Fattupur Kala village, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Modak said.
When the cops tried to intercept the criminals, they opened fire on the police team. Police later managed to nail down seven members of the gang.
Four cars, three pistols and a haul of cartridges were also seized from them, the SP informed.
On interrogation, the arrested revealed they used to lift the vehicles from Varanasi, Allahabad and Maharashtra.
