63 pc polling in Poonch

Poonch, J&K, Nov 17 (UNI) Overall 63 per cent polling was registered for the first phase of Assembly elections in the bordering Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir today, official sources said.

Surankote Assembly constituency registered 61 per cent polling while Poonch-Haveli recorded 62 and Mendhar recorded maximum 65 per cent, sources said.

Apart from sporadic incidents of violence in Mendhar, the polling in the district ended on a peaceful note, sources said.
