Vinod sets new meet record in high jump
Rai, Sonepat, Nov 15 (UNI) Bhiwani high jumper Vinod set a new meet record by clearing the bar placed at 2:07 metres in the men high jump event on the second day of the 22nd Haryana State Games at the Partap Singh Stadium of Moti Lal Nehru Sports School Complex here today. Vipin of Haryana Police got silver by clearing 2:00 metres and Ram Niwas of Bhiwani captured bronze medal 1:90 metres.
Pawan of Hisar became the fastest male runner as he clocked 11.03 seconds in 100 metres race. Daya Kishan of Bhwani timed 11:22 seconds for silver medal and Baldev Singh of Panchkula clocked 11:31 seconds on the cinder track.
Annu of Sonipat emerged the fastest woman runner with a timing of 12.38, 2 Monika (Sonipat) clocked 12.69 seconds for silver and Babita of Rohtak was third in 12:80 seconds.
Partap of Rohtak won the grueling 10,000 metres race by covering the distance in 31:58 minutes. Ravinder (Sonepat) finished close in 32:04 for silver medal.
Anju of Sonepat won the two-lap race with ease as she clocked 2:18.59 with big stride. Shakshi (Sonepat) gave a good fight to Anju but had to remained satisfied with silver in 2:19.63.
Meanwhile, Sanjeev and Sandeep, both of Panipat, ruled the pool by winning four and three gold medals, respectively, in swimming competitions.
Sanjeev stole show by winning 200 metres backstroke (2:37.30), 200 metres freestyle (2:15.62), 50 metres backstroke (31.75 seconds) and 100 metres backstroke (1::11.27) events with each.
Sandeep emerged winner in 50 metres backstroke (32.59), 100 metres backstroke (1:13.60) and 200 metres individual medley (2:30.60).
In Archery Tahir of Gurgaon displayed his concentration and determination as he won two gold medals in the archery competitions at the Sports Authority of India Complex here today. Tarhir started his day by finishing on top in the 90 metres FITA round.241 points.
He went on to grab gold in 70 metres FITA round.
Kurukshetra's Priyanka Bisht, a trainee of Geeta, also had a double delight as she won the 70 and 60 metres round with ease with 259 and 251 points.
In the women section, Shiwani of Gurgaon completed a double as she won the 200 metres freestyle and 200 metres individual medley competitions. In 200 metres freestyle, Shiwani clocked 2:44.35 and in 200 metres individual medley in 2:30.60.
