Two arrested, explosives seized in Meghalaya
Shillong, Nov 15 (UNI) Meghalaya police seized a huge quantity of explosives and arrested two persons, police today said.
The seized items included 52 gelatin sticks, 35 detonators and a 14 metre fuse wire.
These were seized from the residence of one Md Sukur Ali alias Sukur Ahmed and Abdul Sufan alias Kolai at Lad Rymbai in Jaintia Hills district, Superintendent of Police, MK Singh told UNI here over phone.
Ahmed, who claimed to be a permanent resident of Cachar Hills district of Assam, told interrogators that the explosives were meant for blasting in coal mines.
''We are still interrogating the duo to find out how they gathered the explosives,'' the police official said.
The police have registered a case against them.
