People object to setting up of a cremation shed

Puducherry, Nov 15 (UNI) Tension prevailed in Lawspet area here as a section of people opposed the setting up of a cremation shed.

According to police, following a demand from residents of three residential areas, the administration identified a land owned by the education department to set up a cremation shed at a cost of Rs five lakh.

PWD minister M O H F Shajahan came to lay the foundation stone of the cremation shed. But people of Ashok Nagar objected to it and had an argument with the Minister causing tension.

However, they relented when police held talks with them. Later, the Minister laid the foundation stone.
