Legal cases piling up due to beaurocratic sluggishness

Kapurthala, Nov 15 (UNI) Punjab Advocate General H S Mattewal today stressed upon the need for a positive change in the functioning of administrative secretaries in disposing of the pending cases.

Talking to media persons in the local Sainik school here today, Mr Mattewal said the delay in the disposing of the cases at the Administrative Secretary level had resulted in the filing of large number of Public Interest litigations and writ petitions in the Punjab and Haryana High court.

He said there was a growing resentment among the employees over the delay in the disposing of their cases at secretary level despite the court judgments and the slow functioning had resulted in piling up of large number of writ petitions and PIL's in the High court.

Mr Mattewal, an alumni of the Sainik School, was visiting the school to participate in the old boys meet of the Saikapians.

School Principal Col A.K.Tyagi, who welcomed the saikapians, informed that more than 700 students from the school had joined the armed forces so far and 16 boys of school had been selected in NDA during this year.

A large number of saikapians including Major General A.C.Soneja, Brig (Retd) M.P.S.Bajwa a kargil war hero,Air Vice Marshal A.K.Chopra., Air Vice Marshal S.S.Hothi,Olympian Major Nachattar Singh Johal, IAS officer J.P.Singh, IPS Ashok Sood participated in the meet.
