Five minors among 6 girls rescued in Pune

Pune, Nov 15 (UNI) Crime branch sleuths today rescued six girls, including five minors, from the city's red light area of Budhwar Peth today.

Acting on a tip-off that some girls were forced into the flesh trade, a crime branch team raided a brothel and rescued the girls from the owner's captivity.

The victims were lured into the trade on the pretext of marriage and provision of jobs. They were brought to Pune and allegedly kept hostage by the flesh traders for the last 13 months, police said.

A case has been registered against one Sushila, who is also a sex worker, for allegedly torturing and beating the girls repeatedly under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA), they added.
