Deep depression heading for Khaimuk, cross Andhra Coast

Visakhapatnam, Nov 15 (UNI) Depression over south-west and adjoining south-east of Bay of Bengal yesterday has intensified into a deep depression and lay centered about 270 km south-east of Machilipatnam today.

According to the Cyclone Warning Centre here, it is likely to intensify further into a cyclonic storm Khaimuk over south-west and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal and move towards the Andhra coast.

Under its influence, rain or thundershowers were likely at many places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next 36 hours, isolated, heavy to very heavy rains, with speeds reaching 65 to 85 kmph and squally winds with speeds reaching 45 to 55 kmph along and off coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours.

The sea would be rough to very rough off the coast of Andhra Pradesh. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea.

Local cautionary signal number three was hoisted in all ports of the State, the release added.
