BJP demands Home Minister's resignation
Hyderabad, Nov 15 (UNI) The BJP Andhra Pradesh unit today demanded the resignation of Home Minister K Jana Reddy in the wake of the Human Rights Commission indicting the government in connection with the killing of Moddu Seenu, the main accused in the murder of TDP leader Paritala Ravindra in Anantapur jail last week.
BJP State President Bandaru Dattatreya told reporters here that mere suspension of jail staff would not suffice. The Home Minister should own moral responsibility and quit in the wake of the state administration's failure to protect the life of the remand prisoner.
Referring to the Andhra Pradesh High Court finding flaws in the land acquisition policy of the State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation while dealing with a case relating to acquisition of 5,560 acre in Anantapur district, the BJP leader said ''selective'' granting of exemptions to lands of some people was incorrect.
The Congress government should strictly adhere to the Centre's suggestion not to acquire cultivable lands for Special Economic Zones, he said.
