PWD denies MLA's objection

Nanded, Nov 14 (UNI) The Public Works Department (PWD) of Nanded today denied objections raised by Subhash Wankhede, MLA, that extraneous expenditure was made during the Guru Da Gaddi celebration, here.

Till now, all figures of expenditure have not been disclosed by the administration but the PWD clarified that the major construction works done by the PWD include preparing the Malegao road, link road, Parikrama road and Wajegao-Mugat-Shikarghat road, constructing and repairing various rest houses.

For the repair work of the Parikrama roads, including Degloor Naka to Asana Bridge and Mata Sahib to Mudkhed Rs 15.93 crore were sanctioned by the administration.

The administrative sanction of Rs 2280.12 lakh was given for repairing of the roads including Wajegao, Shikarghat, Hiraghat and Mugat, which was later on, revised to Rs 2310.11 lakh.

These works have been completed within the due period.

As the VIPs including the President, Prime Minister, the Governor, and the Chief Minister visited the city during the celebration, it was necessary to construct a new government rest house and renovate the old ones. It was done by incurring an expenditure of Rs 2.41 crore for the new rest house. Rs 5.59 crore were utilized for dismantling the old rest house and constructing the new one for VIPs. Repairing and partial construction work of other rest houses costed Rs 7.76 crore.
